FCC Issues FY 2020 Eligible Services List

The FCC's Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) issued the Eligible Services List (ESL) for E-Rate FY2020 (7/1/2020 - 6/30/2021).  The ESL specifies the services and products that are eligible for E-Rate and is updated annually by the Bureau.  The Bureau also authorized USAC to open the annual E-Rate application filing window within 45 days after the release of the Order (January 23, 2020). The FY2020 ESL removed the "conditional eligibility" of managed internal broadband services, caching, and basic maintenance of internal connections and lists these items as eligible.  The Bureau also clarified that "virtualized solutions that perform the functions of eligible broadband internal connections are eligible for E-Rate funding."

Even though there were a considerable number of comments filed regarding expanding the ESL to include network security, the Bureau declined to make any changes to the ESL this year.
